Pastry Cooks

Pastry Cooks will be responsible for following directions from the Executive Pastry Chef. Participates in pastry preparation, presentation, and cooking activities of bakery items and specials in designated outlets.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for pastry preparation, production and presentation.
  • General understanding of Pastry/Bakery shop including food safety, sanitation, and maintenance.
  • Use all senses to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Able to differentiate dates to ensure freshness of product and execute FIFO.
  • Operate, clean and maintain all tools and equipment required in job functions.
  • Comprehend, follow, expand, condense, and create recipes.
  • Plan and produce creative pastry display and desserts.
  • Able to work cohesively with entire Bakery/Pastry staff as part of a team.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience as a Pastry Cook.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize work, and follow through.
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Food Handling/Sanitation certificate

 

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure by meeting production schedules and timelines.
  • Ability to work the necessary length shift in hot, noisy, and sometimes close conditions.
  • Able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to the duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Required to bend, twist, reach, push and pull.
  • Able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work with a wide variety of fresh products, without negative allergic consequences.
  • Able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
