Food & Thought 2 is seeking a versatile and reliable Utility & Receiving Specialist to support our restaurant operations by maintaining organization, cleanliness, and efficiency. Job Title: Utility & Receiving Specialist

Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: Flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings

What You’ll Do:

  • Keep Us Organized: Receive and inspect deliveries, ensuring all goods meet our high standards of quality, accuracy, and safety. You’ll be our go-to for inventory organization, keeping everything in its place and ready for use.
  • Support Our Team: Lend a hand in the kitchen and dining areas by maintaining cleanliness, taking care of trash and recycling, and assisting with basic food prep tasks when needed.
  • Be Our Eyes and Ears: Monitor incoming stock, report discrepancies, and maintain communication with vendors and kitchen staff to ensure everything is flowing smoothly.
  • Maintain a Clean & Safe Space: Help us maintain a spotless environment by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and spaces, always adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Problem-Solve on the Fly: Whether it’s a missing delivery or a sudden operational need, you’ll be ready to jump in, troubleshoot, and find effective solutions.

  • Language Skills: Proficient in English, with Spanish proficiency being a plus.
  • Footwear: Non-slip shoes are mandatory for a safe working environment (note: the company does not provide footwear).
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reliable Transportation: You’ll need dependable transportation to ensure punctuality and dependability.

Physical & Additional Requirements:

  • Manual Dexterity: Skilled in both gross and fine manipulation.
  • Vision Acuity: Sharp peripheral vision and near/far visual accuracy.
  • Hearing Ability: Effectively hear and respond to instructions in busy environments.
  • Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Capable of handling and moving objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Able to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus and precision.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: Comfortable bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and moving fluidly around the restaurant.
  • Tolerance to Environmental Conditions: Work comfortably in diverse temperatures (hot, humid, cold) and tolerate moderate amounts of dust and cleaning agents.
  • Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a wide variety of fresh ingredients without adverse allergic reactions.
  • Step-Stool and Ladder Use: Confidently utilize a step-stool or ladder as needed.
  • Physical Balance: Maintain stability and balance while executing tasks efficiently.
  • Clear Communication Skills: Convey instructions clearly and communicate effectively with team members, even in busy or noisy environments.
  • Reaching Ability: Capable of reaching below the waist, at the waist, and overhead.
